Lovers of modern art can’t afford to miss ‘Icon of Modern Art’ during a visit to Paris. The Louis Vuitton Foundation offers you the chance to catch this exciting exhibition at it premises near the Bois de Boulogne and Porte Dauphine from 20th October 2016 to 20th February 2017.
Discover a rare collection
You can reach this exceptional exhibition quickly and easily from your hotel. The gallery pays tribute to the Impressionist and Post-Impressionist periods and to the famous Russian arts patron, Sergei Shchukin. More than 130 works from this important Moscow industrialist’s collection have been loaned for the duration of the exhibition. His relationships with some of the biggest art dealers of his time - and also with Matisse and Monet – allowed him to develop a rich and eclectic collection. Van Gogh, Monet, Derain or Gauguin are just a few of the many artists who made an impression on this extraordinary patron.
A complete vision of modern art
Today these works are presented in France through a partnership between the Louis Vuitton Foundation and the Hermitage and Pouchkine museums. The exhibition will be complemented by a symposium on 17th February 2017 that will bring together some of the leading experts on modern and contemporary art. Guests will also enjoy hearing a museographer explain the composition, chromatic connections and overall creation of certain works in detail. The exhibition is an opportunity to learn about the relationship between France and Russia in the early twentieth century and a chance to see rarely displayed works as well as famous paintings.
You can reach the Foundation easily by metro or bus. Why not plan a visit after a day exploring the sights of Paris? The gallery is open from 12 noon to 19.00 on weekdays, 23.00 on Friday and 20.00 over the weekend. Enjoy a unique cultural event before returning to relax in your room at one of our welcoming hotels.
